Each week we spotlight a different Cutting edge Christian ministry! Ministries that are doing what Jesus did. Getting outside of the traditional 4 walls and shining a light in the darkness!
This week: The World Famous Salvation Saloon.
"Call it a miracle, but the watering hole is transformed into something called the Salvation Saloon. On the same bar stool where someone got stoned on Saturday night, someone else gets saved on Sunday morning."
St. Petersburg Times
So what in the world is the Salvation Saloon?
The Salvation Saloon, began as an outreach ministry to the biker community & to those who would not seek out God, in traditional ways. It began as the “Traveling Saloon Gospel Show” where we would travel to bars & present
the Gospel message, in our own unique way. In other words…
if people would not go to church…we’d take church to them.

While Kanye West is bringing Jesus on stage (when his show isn’t cancelled) during his ‘Yeezus’ tour,Kendrick Lamar has allowed him into his heart. According to the site, during his last performance he shouted out his pastor whom he had saw in the audience that led him to Christ.
“On Monday night, during his show at the Staples Center, Kendrick Lamar stopped his set mid-show to give a shout out to his bishop in the audience and he revealed that he had recently gotten baptized, and turned his life over to God. He also said, “I am now protected in not only the physical realm but the spiritual realm,” which was a statement that was probably missed by many because he went right into the next song without skipping a beat. Kudos to Kendrick!
I found a book of beautiful prayers on my desk this morning. What a great way to start the work day. I loved them so much, I will be sharing them with you all week!
May the peace of God which passes all understanding rest on me and my family. Father God, place your hand over my eyes, ears and on my heart. Hide me in your shadow as your love and spirit comforts me in times of trouble. Father help my mind be at ease in every situation. Please grant me the wisdom to know how to handle things. Grant me the understanding that will allow peace to rain over me. Cover me with your wings God and keep me in a quiet place within your heart as your spirit ministers to mysoul. God, i ask for your safekeeping and for your mercy and grace to be with me always. Allow that same joy and peace to spread to those who come in contact with me. Father God surround me with your angels that will keep me safe. Cradle me in your arms with your loving care. I am safe with you as my God, and I declare your glory as my covering and the blood of Jesus as my shield! In Jesus name, Amen!

As Christians, we debate and pontificate on many matters. is there a Rapture? If so, when does it occur? Can you lose your salvation? and the list goes on and on and on. But, are these questions that really matter? Why does it matter if there is a rapture? If you are living a life in Christ and are his child, you will go, and if there isn't one, God will keep you and get you through the bad times. Can you lose your salvation? again, what does it matter, if you are living your life for Christ and are his child.? so, what are some valid things to ponder? How about, what are you doing to serve others? To feed the poor, take care of the widows, and most importantly share your faith! What can we be doing to get closer to God and to live a more holy life? These are the questions that TRULY Matter. Paul summed it up quite nicely in 1 Corinthians 2:2 when he stated " For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified."

If God is not totally bizarre to us then we don't know God. If we think we have Him all figured out then we don't know our head from our hindquarters. God is an infinite being with infinite knowledge who can do no wrong. I can't even begin to know what it means to be God. I can't even begin to fathom what it would take to run the universe seen as how I need my wife to balance my checkbook.
Think I'm off base on this one? Look at Isaiah 55:8:“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.” God isn't pretending here. The whole chapter is calling sinners to repentance and He lets us know up front, “This probably won't make sense to you, but trust me. I'm on the level.” God has no problem with being different than us. He will not apologize for being who He is. We have the problem.
If our gods make perfect sense in our heads then our gods are too small and not worthy of worship. If God can be bottled up in our skulls then He is not infinite. If He only does what we ask, when we ask, then He is not all powerful. If He is only there when we think we need Him then He is not ever present. If God is not a forever, always, and all the time person then He is nothing.
Of course this brings us to the on ramp of a very dangerous road. It is very easy to think that since God is so big, God is so beyond us that He is more of an “it” then a “He.” It is also easy to think that if God is this amazing that He couldn't possibly fit into one set of rules, regulations, or religion. Therefore, as the bumper sticker states, “God is too big for one religion.” A lot of very smart, well meaning people fall into this fallacy because, in some respects, it makes sense that God wouldn't confine Himself.
God doesn't confine Himself. We confine Him. God has been blunt and honest from day one. “Hey guys. I made you. I love you. I'm all you need. Follow me and you'll be okay. Don't follow me and death happens. Since you brought death upon yourself, I'll take it upon myself, beat it up, and give you a way out.” The “confines” exist because we don't like what God is saying. We change God to fit into our preexisting philosophies because we don't have faith that God is as big as He claims to be.
It reminds me of when my 5-year-old tries to put me, his dad, in timeout. He can say it all day long. He can have it so convinced in his head that I am going into timeout, but he has no authority over who I am or what I am doing. I know he loves me, he just isn't too fond of how I'm reacting to him at the moment.
We create a god. We create a god who we control. We create a god that is too small to do anything and then complain to the real God that He's not doing His job. The issue doesn't lie with God it lies within us. We don't like the idea that God runs the show. We don't like the idea that He knows best and does what needs to be done in order to have us, His creation, bring glory to His name. We live in the fallacy that bringing glory to man is the greatest desire of the universe.
Think about the size of your god. If he or she is smaller then you then you are espousing yourself as god.
See, size does matter.

Seasons change four times within a year and those changes take place overtime. There is a time and place for everything. Nothing happens overnight. You may be in a place where change seems like it isn't showing it's face. But just as the seasons take three months to change into a new one, so is the same with life. Now, in no way am I putting a timeline for those changes to take place because Heaven Knows it can take anywhere from months to years for a change to be noticed.
But consider this... your favorite meal. Eating your favorite makes you feel pretty warm on the inside and out, right? Let's say your favorite meal was baked chicken (haha, you thought I was going to say fried? LOL), with homemade mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Now what if you found out your favorite wasn't prepared fresh for you, but was heated up in the microwave? Would you still want to eat it and would you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Now, think about how MUCH better you would feel if you found out Paula Dean from The Food Network prepared the same meal from scratch! (My, my that would be a blessing!)
We all want to reach a feeling of satisfaction after time has passed by. But if you want the microwaved version of success then by all means, it will be ready for you within the next 5 minutes or so. You may have to reheat it over and over again which will cause distaste, distress and disappointment! But for all those who are willing to be patient through prayer, KNOW and HAVE FAITH that God has created a recipe for success and you must trust Him enough to bring it out at the right time to serve you a well prepared meal!
Live in Peace of Mind, Keep it JESUS and Much Love!

8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:7-10 New King James Version) (NKJV)
Sometimes it just seems like God isn't there! There is trouble brewing.....Where is he? What is he doing? Has he abandoned me? Does he even care? If he is God, why is he allowing this to happen?
Sound Familiar? We have all been there at one time or another. So then why does God allow us to screw up and make poor choices? Whey does he allow those trials and "thorns in our side" to go on for what seems like forever?
When things are going great.......when we are prospering at work, the family is doing well, we have a strong group of friends....... We don't seem to need God. Ever had those times when Life is so crazy busy that you seem to have less and less time for God? Or when you are making money, paying the bills, and have lots left over for fun, you don't need to rely on God to supply your needs. When you have lots of friends, and are having fun, you don't seem to need to talk to God as much.
Sometimes God allows these things to go, to prove that we NEED him, that we LOVE him, and to remind us that it is only when we are fully abiding in him that we are truly successful.....for HIS glory rather than ours! When things are less than ideal, and the world is crumbling around us, and we are persecuted and lonely, we will run to God, and spend time with him. It is in those times of trouble and weakness that we allow God to take control, and really shine in our lives. It is during these times that the POWER of God is shown, and when things change and improve, it brings glory to HIM!
So when things aren't going right, and the chips are down....Turn back to God, give up your control of life, so that HE can shine! For when we are weak, truly we are strong!
