Though reversing restrictions on abortion access was not among more than a dozen executive actions signed by President Joe Biden on his first day in office, it’s only a matter of time before the new administration follows through on its pro-choice platform.

That’s a bit confusing, especially since mandatory ‘genderless pronoun’ use is relatively new in Canada; it wasn’t a thing until the country’s government began moving to pass Bill C-16, also known as the ‘Transgender Rights Bill.’ The bill broadens the definition of hate speech to include not recognizing someone’s preferred gender pronoun. By: BRITTANY LOGGINS Halloween can be scary, but it can also be... offensive? The University of Florida wants students to know that counseling is available for students hoping to work past any offense taken from Halloween costumes. “Some Halloween costumes reinforce stereotypes of particular races, genders, cultures, or religions. Regardless of intent, these costumes can perpetuate negative stereotypes, causing harm and offense to groups of people,” the school administration wrote in a blog post. “If you are troubled by an incident that does occur, please know that there are many resources available.” READ MORE HERE Source: Breitbart By: VIRGINIA HALE The LGBT+ Students’ Network at University College London (UCL) is this year running a campaign to raise awareness of gender-neutral pronouns used by transgender peoplender-neutral pronouns used by transgender people A page on UCL’s website introducing the campaign asserts there are people who don’t ‘identify’ as male or female and consider themselves to be “non-binary”. By: Eric Owens The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill issued a guide this week which instructs students that Christmas vacations and telling a woman “I love your shoes!” are “microagressions.” The taxpayer-funded guide — entitled “Career corner: Understanding microaggressions” — also identifies golf outings and the words “boyfriend” and “girlfriend” as microagressions. By: Aaron C. Davis RICHMOND, Calif. -- The odds were good that Lonnie Holmes, 21, would be the next person to kill or be killed in this working-class suburb north of San Francisco. Four of his cousins had died in shootings. He was a passenger in a car involved in a drive-by shooting, police said. And he was arrested for carrying a loaded gun. But when Holmes was released from prison last year, officials in this city offered something unusual to try to keep him alive: money. They began paying Holmes as much as $1,000 a month not to commit another gun crime. Source: MSNBC
By: Adam Howard In the wake of their successful lobbying effort to defeat a controversial religious freedom bill in Georgia, Disney and several other like-minded companies are getting called out by a conservative organization called Texas Values for allegedly going to “war” on Christianity. When Georgia’s legislature passed the Free Exercise Protection Act (H.B. 757), legislation that would have allowed local businesses to refuse to provide services to people whose lifestyles offended their religious sensibilities, an overwhelming number of voices from the world of business and entertainment converged to pressure Republican Gov. Nathan Deal to veto the bill, which he eventually did on Monday. “It’s striking that the day after Easter, churches in Georgia are told their freedoms are not that important to protect. It’s clear that corporate giants like Apple, Disney, NCAA, Intel have finally come out of the closet and declared public war on the religious freedom of clergy and religious schools, as was the protection in Georgia’s very modest HB 757 that they worked to bring down,” wrote Texas Values president Jonathan Saenz in a statement this week.
Source: Western Journalism Author: F. PETER BROWN The song “Baa, Baa Black Sheep” is one of the world’s most famous nursery rhymes. Now childcare centers in Australia are calling the song both racist and sexist. The Herald Sun writes: Staff at childcare centres in the south-eastern suburbs told the Herald Sun the lyric was being changed because of concerns over the racial connotations of “black”, and to reflect a multicultural community. Kindergarten teachers have told the Herald Sun a centre in Melbourne’s east had also considered changing the line “one for the little boy who lives down the lane” in case it could be deemed sexist. One Herald Sun reader, named Gavin, wrote: “I am a person who has black skin. Can we please stop with the political correctness, it’s becoming a joke. The song is called baa baa black sheep. No need to change it!” Another Herald Sun reader, Leonie Meadows, wrote: “It certainly is taking it too far. We have black sheep why can’t we call them black? Are we going to ban the colour black?” What do you think? Has political correctness gone way too far here? h/t: The Herald Sun |
