A restaurant in Winston-Salem, North Carolina offers a surprising deal: if patrons pray before their meal, they receive 15 percent off. Mary’s Gourmet Diner has been giving praying customers a break for four years, but the unpublicized discount is only just now gaining attention.
Jordan Smith visited the diner and was surprised to see $6.07 taken off her $40.50 bill. When she posted a photo of the receipt to Facebook, it piqued national interest.
“[We] prayed over our meal and the waitress came over at the end of the meal and said, ‘Just so you know, we gave you a 15 percent discount for praying,’ which I’d never seen before,” Smith said.
Restaurant owner Mary Haglund said the discount is intended to be a kind gesture for people who take the time to give thanks. “For me, every plate of food is a gift. And I never take that for granted and when I see someone in a restaurant honoring their gratefulness at my table...it touches my heart,” she said.

250 Christian girls were recently kidnapped, raped, impregnated, and executed by Muslim militants. Sharia courts have waged “rape jihad” on non-Muslim women and children in an effort to quell soldiers’ sexual desires and punish the enemies of Islam. Honor killings, imprisonment, andcrucifixions have left thousands of Christians in hiding.
And they’re fed up.

BEIJING (AP) — The pastor of a Christian church in central China was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Friday in what supporters say is a crackdown aimed at curbing fast-growing religious activity, his lawyer said.
Zhang Shaojie of the Nanle County Christian Church in Henan province was convicted of fraud and of gathering crowds to disturb public order, according to lawyer Yang Xingquan.

(CNN) -- It is a scene seared forever into the memory of an eyewitness:
Masked men drag the bloodied body of a man across a public square, and tie it to a make-shift cross on a metal pole.
Green string holds the body's arms outstretched across a wood plank as blood oozes from the gunshot wound to his head.
Militiamen wrap the body's black "WhatsApp" shirt with a sign in red letters that reads in Arabic: "This man fought Muslims and detonated an IED here."
Young refugees exchange letters of hope
The eyewitness -- a man we will call Abu Ibrahim -- does more than watch. He steps closer and snaps a picture with his cell phone; the children around him gawk at the horrific spectacle with quiet curiosity.

"God has never allowed the power of darkness to overcome the Church in North Korea. We give You praise and thanks that the Gospel is still being preached to North Korean people even in warlike persecution." -Thomas Kim
(North Korea) - He escaped from North Korea 15 years ago and became a Christian in South Korea. On a recent mission trip to North Korea's Hamgyong province, he found young leaders well-trained in Christian theology, eager to build God's underground Church in one of the most repressive and isolated governments on earth.
