But for one local official, the reason behind a group of teens seeking out a way to stay busy made a big impact. On July 27, head of the LaGrange Housing Authority Zsa Zsa Heard was working in her office, as she has for the last two years, when she was approached by four young teens asking for jobs.

USA Today reports that on Monday, Jordan Wooley, a straight-A student at the West Memorial Junior High School, and her classmates were told by their reading teacher that God is not real and that answers to the contrary would result in a poor grade.

A Wellington College student, who is proud to be a virgin at 18 and urges other young people not to rush into a sexual relationship, has received supportive letters and emails from all over the world since publishing his story in The Guardian. Phin Lyman says those who support him have thanked him for his honesty. “I’m certainly not the only one. When I researched my article I found a survey that showed that 27% of young men aged 15 to 24 have never had any form of sexual contact; and that's up from 2002 when the figure was 22%,” says Phin. Earlier this month, police say a man kidnapped then nine-year-old Willie Myrick from his southwest Atlanta driveway. In a letter to the school district, the Freedom From Religious Foundation writes: “It is a violation of the Constitution for the Mooresville High School football coach to organize, lead or participate in prayers or other religious proselytizing before, during or after games and practices.” |
