By: Minister Bill Raupp (Minister Grok) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder aka ADHD is a mental health disorder which manifests in symptoms including distractibility, impulsivity and may or may not include a hyperactive component. ADHD usually co-occurs with another mental health disorder such as depression or anxiety. An estimated 3% of children are diagnosed with adhd, and while many will outgrow this with age, more than 60% still struggle as adults. (webmd). ADHD is typically treated with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and medication. ADHD in adults tends to be more severe as it can lead to many social, relationship, monetary and legal consequences. This blog will focus primarily on adult ADHD, ( an often taboo subject ) and will endeavor to provide information, support and help to those adults who may be struggling. |
