What's going on people! How are you guys?
God is good... All the time; And all the time, God is good! We all have heard or said this at some point in our Christian lives. But... do you really believe it? Even when things are going bad, will you still believe that God is good? I know we can at times focus on our struggles, hard times and trials of every day life. But the way I see it, the good ALWAYS outweigh the bad. God is (or at least should be) the center of our lives. He created the universe and it is only fitting for us to make him the center of our personal universe. But consider this, while we are looking to make God the center of our universe, what if He didn't do anything else for us? What if the blessings stopped flowing or what if He didn't give us our heart's desires? Would you still say he's good no matter what? I was reading Psalms 78 today and found the people of Israel still complained and turned against God even when he was doing for them. He fed them with manna from heaven, quenched their thirst with water from a rock, and parted the seas to have them walk on dry land and STILL.... it wasn't enough for them. What does God need to do, say or prove in order for us to say that He is good all the time... no matter what? Maybe we need to count our blessings and be grateful even if he did nothing else for us because SURELY, He's done enough! Live in "Peace of Mind". Keep it JESUS. Much Love. - Harlem Witness

You ever hit a bump in the road along this journey called life? Have you ever planned ahead but then things don't go "according to plan"? Have you ever been so focused but it seems like something always tries to knock you off balance?
If you answered yes to all three of these questions, then it's pretty safe to say that you belong to the human species. We all walk different roads in life but we still need a sturdy pair of shoes to get to our destination. Our paths may be different, but the gesture is the same. We're more alike than we even realize. Life will throw you curveballs but you're the one holding the bat. You can either keep swinging or not even step up to the plate. Whatever burden is on your heart whether it be bills, your children, school, work or ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF... Know that if God brought you to it, then He can bring you through it. Live in Peace of Mind. Keep it Jesus. Much Love! - Harlem Witness Psalms 34:14 Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. HEY! We need your help again! We need money to keep broadcasting and sending out gospel materials! Our bills are looming. If anyone can help, even if it is $10, it would help us to continue to get the gospel out to the masses! You can donate here: http://www.cyiworldwide.com/help-us--get-involved1.html Punk Rock is a style of Rock music that began in the early 1970's. The music was typified by a raw aggressive sound. Punk was a rebellion against the polished corporate music of the time, and many times involved songs composed of a few chords, and in many cases very little technical music skill. But it wasn't about how fast you could play, how many chords you knew or how great you could solo, it was about the message. The message of rebellion against the establishment. Much of the punk contained a political message and sparked a strong underground subculture.
Punk Music eventually evolved into other styles such as oi,hardcore and many other subtypes. Then in the 90;s something happened.......POP punk emerged. Punk became commercialized, cleaned up and corporate.......... So what does this have to do with Christianity or Jesus? Well, With the beginning of the "Jesus Movement' in Christian music, there began a movement to Play new forms of music for the glory of God. Among these was the Christian punk movement in the 1980's. The scene began small with some great bands like The Altar Boys, The Crucified, One Bad Pig and Undercover. These bands had an authentic Punk sound, but with lyrics that glorified God. The Altar Boys were notorious for keeping the Rebellion angle, using it to refer to we as Christians rebelling against the world and it's systems. Being rebels for Jesus! Some other notable bands from the Hardcore movement (JCHC- Jesus Christ Hardcore) included Officer Negative, and Flatfoot56 who have am ore OI style! With the 90's commercialization of "punk" in the mainstream, the Christian market quickly embraced this less-offesnsive punk sound and ran with it. During this time there was an explosion of Christian punk. Some notable bands to come out of this era include mxpx!, Relient K, and Ghoti Hook to name a few. As the pop punk fad faded, so did many punk releases from Mainstream Christian labels. In the past few years there has been a remnant of Christian punk bands who represent the classic styles and have a strong Christian message. While many of these bands aren't played on most Christian music stations, they retain a large underground following. So then, why even have "Christian Punk"? While many will automaticaly assume that because it has a spiritual message that it is watered down or Wuss punk. Nothing could be further from the truth! The Christian punk/Ska/JCHC movement serves a critical purpose! One of our main objectives as Christians should be to reach the hurting and lost with the Gospel! Punk subculture is a tough culture to reach out to. This is where punk musicians are so critical, they have the ability to exist in the subculture, put out some awesome music and plant seeds and minister through their own personal testimonies. We at CYI Worldwide/Grok Radio honor our Punk brothers, and commend them for the critical work they do for the kingdom! Looking for some great Christian Punk/Ska.Hardcore? Here are some resources:

Horns beeping and people weaving through other people, like a waterfall flowing over unmovable rocks. Their destination is of the utmost importance even if it's to just to meet up with a friend at a local bar or club. You can hear the pounding of footsteps and voices screaming bringing mustard colored cars to a hault and it may not even be rush hour. This is the sound of the Big Apple in which I reside but many times this big city can cause a massive headache.
I've lived in New York City most of my life and it really does have it's ups and downs. The violence, rage and ignorance can seem so prevalent that it seems to suffocate our children, communities and schools. However, there are those among us who are on the other side of the coin. Some desire peace, love and knowledge. Peace for the streets, love for the people and knowledge to do better. A family member once told me, "If you knew, you do better." This I believe to be true. New York City is one of many cities. I'm sure we all face the problems and issues within our communities. We can either look at the issues and do nothing; or we can pray for peace and take steps towards making it better. We can't wait for President Obama or our local governors to act. Creating a better future for generations to come, starts with us. Live in Peace of Mind. Keep it Jesus. Much Love. - Harlem Witness Hey Everyone.
