I found a book of beautiful prayers on my desk this morning. What a great way to start the work day. I loved them so much, I will be sharing them with you all week!
May the peace of God which passes all understanding rest on me and my family. Father God, place your hand over my eyes, ears and on my heart. Hide me in your shadow as your love and spirit comforts me in times of trouble. Father help my mind be at ease in every situation. Please grant me the wisdom to know how to handle things. Grant me the understanding that will allow peace to rain over me. Cover me with your wings God and keep me in a quiet place within your heart as your spirit ministers to mysoul. God, i ask for your safekeeping and for your mercy and grace to be with me always. Allow that same joy and peace to spread to those who come in contact with me. Father God surround me with your angels that will keep me safe. Cradle me in your arms with your loving care. I am safe with you as my God, and I declare your glory as my covering and the blood of Jesus as my shield! In Jesus name, Amen! As Christians, we debate and pontificate on many matters. is there a Rapture? If so, when does it occur? Can you lose your salvation? and the list goes on and on and on. But, are these questions that really matter? Why does it matter if there is a rapture? If you are living a life in Christ and are his child, you will go, and if there isn't one, God will keep you and get you through the bad times. Can you lose your salvation? again, what does it matter, if you are living your life for Christ and are his child.? so, what are some valid things to ponder? How about, what are you doing to serve others? To feed the poor, take care of the widows, and most importantly share your faith! What can we be doing to get closer to God and to live a more holy life? These are the questions that TRULY Matter. Paul summed it up quite nicely in 1 Corinthians 2:2 when he stated " For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified." For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; In a world that is designed to pull us down, destroy us, and move us away from the image God designed us to be, it’s good to take a moment to consider how the Lord views us. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God Knitted us in the womb, He saw us before our bodies were formed, and knew our lives from beginning to end, his thoughts towards us would outnumber the grains of sand on the earth. His thoughts towards us are of peace not of evil, thoughts to give us a future and a hope. He has the hairs on our head not only counted, but individually numbered, His love for us is so great that he has called us his sons and daughters, and promises an eternal inheritance. We are the apple of his eye, and so precious that his son paid the ultimate cost to redeem us. Oh how, the father loves us.

In a world that encourages us to “Be Proud, to do whatever we like, just as long as we don’t hurt anyone, have it our way, never let them see you sweat, and to think of ourself first, the wisdom of the Bible seems pretty radical. Philipians 2:3 tells us Do not act out of selfish ambition or conceit, but with humility think of others as being better than yourselves. “Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. The enemy of Humility is PRIDE, Pride has been referred to as the “complete anti-God state of mind.” in Prov. 16:5 is says Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; and God detests pride. He even hates a proud look according to (Prov. 6:16-17). It’s funny how that which God hates, is the crowing principle of our modern society. So my challenge to you is to take some time, ask the Lord to search you, and uncover any pride in you…….For God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Episode 003: Listen to internet radio with Minister Grok on Blog Talk Radio Devotionals by Donovan de Necker from South Africa, also band member of the J.C.H.C. band THE OLD-TIMERS.
Daniel 11:38 "He shall honor the god of fortresses instead of these. A god whom his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and costly gifts." Foothold I don’t know about you but I believe scripture speaks on many levels. In this blog I want to look at “fortresses” in the spiritual and mental context. With so much mass media saturation via Hollywood and the music industry, I believe as Christians we should choose more carefully what we digest from the enormous amount of media sources available today. Especially television, movies and music. While some things are clearly unhealthy and offensive, there is still so much more that we often do not perceive or think is effecting us. It’s common for people to deflect their hardships on to God, or outright blame Him. I do not agree with that as His Word tells me otherwise in Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Father clearly tells us his intentions toward us. Furthermore, the Word reveals the enemy and his works and the source of hardships and sorrows in 1 Peter 5:8 "Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." Many may say, “How can he harm me, I’m a Christian?” Let me ask, and I include myself in this, what books do you read, movies do you watch, TV shows, what music are you listening to, do you read horoscopes and play games like GTA? These are all “footholds” the devil can use to build “fortresses”, if we allow. Have you ever been in a great mood then suddenly find yourself road-raging, or yelling at your dog…? What song was playing on the radio recently, what in your environment triggered that sudden mood shift? It’s well documented that music and images directly effect our mood and can even stir emotions. So with this notion, can you begin to see why it’s important to safeguard our minds against giving satan “footholds” to build “fortresses”? Fortify How can we accomplish this vigilance? Changing habits, watch less television, listen to music that edifies and lifts you up, spend more time just talking to our Father, talking to each other. Hey, I’m nobody to be telling you how you should live, I just know what works for me. But try it and pray about it. Change some habits, the results can only be positive. And the next time you think, “why did this happen to me, why do I feel this way?” Give praise to God and seek out that “fortress” and destroy it in the name of Jesus. If we are truly following Christ it shouldn’t be hard to leave some unnecessary things behind. Grace and peace! 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. This article was written by Thomas Austin Hey Everyone.
I know it's been a while since I posted, my apologies. However, I am back and come bearing no gifts, but a question. May I continue? Excellent, so I thought about the word value... and I asked myself, "Self, what do you value?" Well, I value God, Family, Time... and honestly although it may be true, it's easy to say. I've heard it said, that on whatever you spend most of your time on, that's what is of the most importance to you. So, I have a different question, same subject matter of course. "What's most important to you?" Guess what, you don't have to answer because if we look closely, we'll surely see for ourselves. Could it be money, accessories, makeup, hair, parties, drugs, friends, family, yourself, or above all... God? Whatever it maybe, I can only hope that we understand that God values us and wants us to spend time with him. This is a relationship and knowing OF God is completely different from knowing Him. I hope we value our relationship with our Heavenly Father and our time spent with Him will only prove if it's true... or not. Live in Peace of Mind, Keep It JESUS, Much Love! Today's Verse is Hebrews 10:17. Join us as we talk about Forgiveness! For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:7-10 New King James Version) (NKJV) Sometimes it just seems like God isn't there! There is trouble brewing.....Where is he? What is he doing? Has he abandoned me? Does he even care? If he is God, why is he allowing this to happen? Sound Familiar? We have all been there at one time or another. So then why does God allow us to screw up and make poor choices? Whey does he allow those trials and "thorns in our side" to go on for what seems like forever? When things are going great.......when we are prospering at work, the family is doing well, we have a strong group of friends....... We don't seem to need God. Ever had those times when Life is so crazy busy that you seem to have less and less time for God? Or when you are making money, paying the bills, and have lots left over for fun, you don't need to rely on God to supply your needs. When you have lots of friends, and are having fun, you don't seem to need to talk to God as much. Sometimes God allows these things to go, to prove that we NEED him, that we LOVE him, and to remind us that it is only when we are fully abiding in him that we are truly successful.....for HIS glory rather than ours! When things are less than ideal, and the world is crumbling around us, and we are persecuted and lonely, we will run to God, and spend time with him. It is in those times of trouble and weakness that we allow God to take control, and really shine in our lives. It is during these times that the POWER of God is shown, and when things change and improve, it brings glory to HIM! So when things aren't going right, and the chips are down....Turn back to God, give up your control of life, so that HE can shine! For when we are weak, truly we are strong! |
