Millions of students in public schools don’t understand fractions or pronouns at even a basic level but students in the oceanfront Boston suburb of Revere, Mass. are taking the time to learn all about Islam — in the most embarrassingly shallow and cheerleading way imaginable. Part of the textbook prints the Muslim Call to Prayer, according to Boston NBC affiliate WHDH. “I bear witness that there is no God but Allah,” it says. The textbook portion also reverently celebrates Muhammad’s life. “Muhammad never expected to change world,” the admiring, rah-rah textbook reads. “Muhammad later tended sheep on the dry hills like many young Arabians,” the text explains. “Later he became a successful merchant and married a wealthy widow. However, he felt as though something was missing in his life, so he went on a retreat.” The founder of Islam was “upset about the cruelty of his people,” the text also optimistically explains. They “killed baby girls.” They “treated their slaves unkindly.” And “Muhammad had a strong sense of right and wrong.” One local parent, Anthony Giannino, is upset about the textbook’s treatment of the Muslim religion. Now childcare centers in Australia are calling the song both racist and sexist. The Herald Sun writes: Staff at childcare centres in the south-eastern suburbs told the Herald Sun the lyric was being changed because of concerns over the racial connotations of “black”, and to reflect a multicultural community. Kindergarten teachers have told the Herald Sun a centre in Melbourne’s east had also considered changing the line “one for the little boy who lives down the lane” in case it could be deemed sexist. One Herald Sun reader, named Gavin, wrote: “I am a person who has black skin. Can we please stop with the political correctness, it’s becoming a joke. The song is called baa baa black sheep. No need to change it!” Another Herald Sun reader, Leonie Meadows, wrote: “It certainly is taking it too far. We have black sheep why can’t we call them black? Are we going to ban the colour black?” What do you think? Has political correctness gone way too far here? h/t: The Herald Sun Source: Yahoo News
By Fran Blandy Paris (AFP) - A wave of panic sparked by evil clowns stalking French towns has spread to the south of France where police on Saturday night arrested 14 teenagers dressed as the pranksters, carrying pistols, knives and baseball bats. A police source said Sunday the group of teens were arrested in the parking lot of a high school in the Mediterranean port town of Agde, as several other complaints poured in about "armed clowns" in the region over the weekend. In the nearby city of Montpellier a man disguised as a clown was arrested after beating up a pedestrian with an iron bar, while three motorists in different towns complained about "scary clowns" threatening them. The phenomenon of dressing up as an evil clown and terrifying passers-by -- a trend which has also been seen in the United States and Britain -- cropped up in the north of France in early October. At schools in Holland there are many problems with Moroccan youth. Most do not finish their school education and there are many stories about violence against teachers. The teachers do not receive any support from their management or the police. Thing is, Dutch schools, are not allowed to remove aggressive students. They can only reassign them to another school, but other schools are also not waiting for an aggressive student. Last year, one student even shot a teacher through his head, and a fellow student went on the streets to demonstrate to support the murderer.

The city of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, is taking a step many opponents of same-sex marriage feared would come – forcing those with religious objections to perform same-sex marriages or risk facing prosecution for violating non-discrimination laws. Donald and Evelyn Knapp, ordained ministers who oppose gay marriage, own the Hitching Post wedding chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Early in 2014, a federal judge in Idaho ruled that the same-sex marriage ban was unconstitutional, but the ruling was put on hold while the case was appealed. When the Supreme Court declined to hear the case, the ruling stood and went into effect. The city of Coeur d’Alene has an ordinance that prohibits discrimination, including on the basis of sexual orientation, in public accommodations. It does have a religious exemption, but the Hitching Post is a for-profit company, not technically a religious organization, in spite of the Knapp’s deeply held personal beliefs. Source: CBN News
Author: Julie Stahl and Chris Mitchell JERUSALEM, Israel -- As stories of new beheadings of Christian children in Iraq come to light, many wonder - who will speak out against it? Now Jews and Christians are banding together to fight growing persecution of Christians in Islamic countries. "When hundreds of thousands of Christians - men, women and children - are killed, this isn't a war, this is genocide. And Jews know what happens when the world is silent to genocide," World Jewish Congress President Ron Lauder told participants at the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem's annual Feast of Tabernacles celebration in Jerusalem. Lauder advocates for Jewish people around the world. Now he's teaming up with the ICEJ and Empowered21 to fight Christian persecution. A Christian school in Britian is being threatened with closure because of its refusal to invite Muslim religious leaders, or imams, to come and address the students.
The Department of Education says that promoting “acceptance and engagement” and “tolerance and respect of all faiths and cultures” means that schools must go beyond just going on trips to synagogues and mosques, as they have done in the past; and they must instead invite leaders such as Muslim imams to lead lessons at their school. The document, obtained by Nebraska Watchdog, wants to make sure teachers aren’t using phrases like “you guys” and “ladies and gentlemen.” Instead, it offers the solution for students to be identified by things that are personally important to them, such as their favorite color or TV show. Author: Eric Owens In the gem of a video below, Campus Reform drops by the campus of Harvard University to ask people on campus: “What is a greater threat: America or ISIS?” The interviewees — at least the ultra-pretentious, ultra-annoying ones chosen for the clip — definitely did not disappoint. The dude in the hipster Cholo flannel who politely blows smoke from his roll-your-own cigarette beside the interviewer’s face is The Daily Caller’s favorite. For sure. However, the dude double-fisted with coffees is great. And the woman who ebulliently declares that she just learned that the United States has a large defense-spending budget is utterly fantastic. “As a western civilization, we’re to blame for a lot of the problems that we’re facing now,” one person said. “I don’t think anyone would argue that we didn’t create the problem of ISIS ourselves.” |
