PORTLAND, TN (WSMV) -In Portland, TN, a towering billboard quotes a Leviticus passage from the Old Testament: "You shall not lie with a man as with a woman. It is an abomination."
Ronnie Monday, a Vietnam veteran, is the man behind the message.
He commissioned the billboard and paid for it with donations from some friends. It has been up for four months.
"When the president came out and indicated that he thought that gay marriage was OK, that was pretty much the last straw," Monday said.
Chris Sanders is the executive director of the Tennessee Equality Project, a group that supports gay rights.
"It's a free country. The man has the right to put it up there. We're not questioning that; we're questioning whether it's the right message," he said.

A little boy who decided he was a girl trapped in a boy's body has become one of the youngest-ever children to have his decision backed by the NHS - aged just four.
With his blonde pigtails and purple tutu, Zach Avery, now five, has been living as a girl for more than a year - after he first refused to live as a boy when he turned three.
Little Zach was just three when he began refusing to live as a boy, instead choosing to wear pink dresses and ribbons in his long, blonde hair - because he has Gender Identity Disorder (GID).
And the primary school he attends in Essex has even changed the kids' toilets to gender-neutral Unisex in support of Zach since his official diagnosis last year, aged four.
Zach is one of the youngest in Britain ever to be diagnosed with GID - meaning he feels like he's a girl trapped in a boy's body.
Mum Theresa Avery, 32, said Zach used to be a 'normal' little boy who loved Thomas the Tank Engine, but suddenly at the end of 2010, he decided he wanted to live as a girl.

PHOENIX – An appeals court in Arizona has ruled that a woman who began converting her appearance into a man over a decade ago may be granted a divorce, overturning a lower court ruling that denied the proceedings over confusion whether the woman was a man when she married.
As previously reported, in 1997, Tracy Lehuanani Lagondino began undergoing testosterone treatments and changed her name to Thomas Beatie. In 2002, she underwent a double mastectomy and chest reconstruction, but decided to keep her female reproductive organs and womb.

It's the last bastion of women's outerwear that hasn't been appropriated by the more fashionable men out there - until now.
High heels are, apparently, de rigueur for men.
To the possible chagrin of some more traditional males, those with a fashionable eye and an eccentric sensibility are taking the women's power dressing weapon of choice and making it their own.
Suits you, sir: Mark Cramer, left, and Coy Barton choose to wear heels as they find the conventional offerings for men so dull. Far from drag, men are choosing heels for the same reason as women - to feel good
And the resulting looks are far from the Priscilla Queen of the Desert-esque drag styles that are so often associated with men in heels.
